Paul’s Daily Driver — 2021 Build

Completed Nov 2021 · Handcrafted in Ontario

This instrument is a custom body inspired by Ieuan’s original bass, with walnut/maple construction and an apple-wood top with a bocote fretboard over a walnut/maple/yellow Tarra neck, combining smooth feel with bright, articulate response. The hardware includes Graph Tech Ratio tuners for precision and stability.

Electrically the build is focused on flexibility and performance: a foil humbucker at the bridge and a lipstick pickup at the neck give distinct voices, while the Graph Tech Ghost hex-pickup system with the “Hex Pand™” expander and Acousti-Phonic preamp enables full MIDI capability.

This lets you tap into the Roland GR-55’s enormous palette: its triple-core engine blends two PCM synth voices and COSM modelling, giving you over 900 tones including pianos, vintage synths, strings, and modeled guitar and bass instruments.

With that setup you’re not just playing guitar — you’re flying into synth territory, triggering MIDI sound modules, layering textures, and controlling backing tracks via USB memory support. On stage with “50 Foot Jesus”, this guitar/rig combination gives you the tone, range and control to go anywhere your head turns.
